Newcastle United above us on the league table

International break, Media highlights, the previous result against Jose's men and call for change of coach; only compounded issues for Ole. How does he cope up? Pressures from all front, no first choice strikers at his disposal and a need for change based on previous match.

Ole responded with 5 changes one or two forced, the rest was an intended message by Ole. Mata, the good boy got his chance. Only scary one was Fred who has the tendency to loose the ball in some crucial positions. Overall Ole reverted to his trusted team - the team that saved him his job with a fine performance during end of 2019 -2020 season and Europa. The players who played within their abilities and trusted each other.

The Jinx continues

Conceding early and then trying to equalise has happened too very often for any ManUtd fan's liking or rather even the player's liking but this has happened way too often. 1:42 Min and a deflection off ManUtd defender put ManUnd in a spot of bother.

But the team came back into their own created a lot of chances and scored twice at 18th and 25th, 18th was ruled out with a marginal offside and the 25th stood.

Positives

  • Good comeback
  • No extravagant passes
  • Simple yet effective and easy on the eye passes
  • Rashford on his own created few chances and it was good to see him run past defenders with ease
Negatives

  • James was working hard but needs some more game time to get his confidence - looks like he lacks the finish
  • Rashford may have to work some more on his finish - his final touch seems to be heavy (in the first half)

Second half

Even though ManUtd created quite a few chances, the strike looked too soft and lack of conviction in converting. Slowly as time progressed, tiredness caught up and the final creativity in the final third was missing. Pogba's introduction was good in many ways. Apart from the class he can bring to the pitch, he also attracts some attention from his opposition which actually frees few players. A push for a goal saw the Newcastle defence move just wee bit higher and ManUtd exploited it to take the lead. It was good to see Donny trying to create an impression, good effort from him. He did play his part in the subsequent goal. Newcastle pushed forward for an equaliser, the field was wide open and ManUtd exploited it very well to score the 3rd and the 4th and sealed the 3 points.

Positives

  • Players gave it their all and played within their abilities
  • Mid field was covering a lot of ground
  • Timely substitution

Negatives

  • Tired legs and lack of creativity in the final third midway through the 2nd half
  • Fast break from the oppositions continues to catch our defenders off guard leaving De Gea to save the blushes

My Man of the Match

De Gea saved the blushes for the defenders with a top class pointblank save off a deflection. If that was converted, then ManUtd would have been chancing and Newcastle would have gone completely defensive

The beginning blues for the RED side

Theatre of Dreams I have heard of it, but never made it to the 'Theatre of Dreams', fans from other Clubs would be envious about not only in England but beyond, of this beautiful fortress. Unfortunately this fortress been breached more that the share that would be tolerated by its Fans.  Sir Alex has for sure left a void but things have to move on and the next legend is what the fans across the world are looking for. No one is bigger than the club, but if you are chosen to play for this club, you better be prepared for an attitude that comes along with the culture that is second to none. Home game Vs Crystal Palace The line up did surprise me a bit, James or Greenwood. I preferred Greenwood, of course he was in the news for all wrong reasons but the boy needs to change things and what best, than a good game to shift focus. But Ole had other thoughts, probably to protect him.  A make shift defence for the visiting team was a huge plus for us and of course home ground (not ...

Chelsea in Old Trafford

A big match, both the defence were under scrutiny for sometime now. A good outing last week against New Castle and a good midweek Champions league game against PSG a welcome release for Ole. Confidence for Reds but should not get into over confidence is what all United Fans will be hoping for. On the other hand Chelsea had a good outing and confidence soaring as well. Two home defeats on the trout was a worry for the Reds. Nervy and tentative first half Trusted eleven is what Ole had gone with switching back to the four at the back. Packed midfield and probably the heat map would be showing completely red in the middle of the park and slightly on the Chelsea half. With both the teams having phase upfront, the midfield was looking for an error from reach other. Last seven to ten min saw some brisk phase but other wise a very tentative first half.  Should have looked up a little bit more missing out on swift passes and the missed chance from Rashford.  Work rate from McTominay a...

Against Bielsa's Leads at Home

Almost the same quad from last season but with a higher level of confidence, two decent signings and the players with a fresh mindset. The mindset is definitely on the up...the crowds are in and the football sound is on. We all know how well Leads play, with their attacking mindset but with a touch of strategic class from Bielsa.  The lads seem to be a lot more confident with most of them having a good outing for their respective countries. Maguire and Shaw have made the two position their own. Lindelof's getting the captain's arm band for his country puts him in a much better state of mind. Wan Bissaka his usual self. McTominay, Fred occupying the middle Pogba flanking the left and Dan James on the right. Bruno attacking from the middle with Greenwood upfront.  Greenwood showing some good intent, Dan James better than last year but has more work to do apart from managing his phase. Pogba a shadow of himself when it comes to finishes but his assists are of course right up ther...
