Almost the same quad from last season but with a higher level of confidence, two decent signings and the players with a fresh mindset. The mindset is definitely on the up...the crowds are in and the football sound is on. We all know how well Leads play, with their attacking mindset but with a touch of strategic class from Bielsa.
The lads seem to be a lot more confident with most of them having a good outing for their respective countries. Maguire and Shaw have made the two position their own. Lindelof's getting the captain's arm band for his country puts him in a much better state of mind. Wan Bissaka his usual self.
McTominay, Fred occupying the middle Pogba flanking the left and Dan James on the right. Bruno attacking from the middle with Greenwood upfront.
Greenwood showing some good intent, Dan James better than last year but has more work to do apart from managing his phase. Pogba a shadow of himself when it comes to finishes but his assists are of course right up there.
First 45
First half showed some promising moves and then a peach of a ball from Pogba saw Bruno netting the ball in. The first goal at the 30 min mark. Shaw and Dan James in with couple of changes, but put it away from goal. A good first half but a little tentative and the one goal advantage was not something that United can rely on.
Second 45
First couple of min saw the some crisp passes from Bielsa's team and got the equaliser. When I was about to think that the previous seasons story was in play to haunt us, the lads just shifted gear and then a fury of goals. Fred tapping one in as well.
The game pretty much out of reach for Leads at the 75 min mark, allowed Solskjær to give Martial the much needed match practice and flaunt with Sancho. Matic came in to give Pogba some rest.
Takeaway
The understanding was good, much renewed Martial, Pogba with couple of assists and the team shifting gears at will was all plus for today's game. Solskjær got his strategy right as well, killing the midfield and striker link for the visitors. Like the last time around, McTominay and Fred putting on all the hard-work and got the team going. Bruno kept finding the goal almost every time he got a chance.
Improvement as such would probably be the clearance in United's own box. Over all a good outing for the Red side of Manchester.
5- 1 to Manchester United
