Win against Everton had relieved some pressure off Ole and a win against the Turkish side in the Champions league was comforting for all Manchester United fans. Mata a surprise inclusion and home games have not looked good in recent time. Fluctuating performance was probably the only worry among the fans.
Lacked creativity
The Baggies were prepared to frustrate Manchester United team and did the same, except for a couple of chances in the beginning of the first half nothing went Manchester United's way. In fact the scare of West Brom scoring early and then the defensive play to frustrate was looming large.
First half ended with a strong finish by the Baggies. If at all they had chances of a 3 points it was the last five minutes of the first half.
It has to be said that Manchester United lacked creative play with both Fred and Matic playing more defensive. Accusation of Fred loosing the ball at some crucial places, was not to stop. Pundits and some Manchester United faithfuls were getting vocal on the same.
For me Martial lost his game early in the first half and then never looked a part. This quickly spread across, low on creative play and first goal was never to come.
Lucky to come off with three points
A very bright start for the second half by the Baggies with a penalty to start. Manchester United was lucky to see VAR and on-field referee rule out a penalty. Then the penalty went the other way around. Bruno missing it the first time and VAR to the rescue with a retake. Manchester United were one up, and then a brief open game from both sides. Manchester United it was all the way to the end and went on to take the three points.
Some talking points were the lack of intent, squandering good changes and an intent to kill the game was lacking. Looked like the forward line was on pressure to perform.
'Moody' Martial was not making things good for the team as well as him. Cavani was moving like a typical good old days striker but the ball never reached him.
The only excuse for Ole was the number of games the squad had to play in a shot span of time.
